5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reading!

This book is a rare gem I found rather accidentally. Among the sheer amount of garbage that pass as Sci-Fi these days is astounding to found this imaginative yet realistic work. Guaranteed to stay with you long after you finish reading it. Loved it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story
By jds
Format: Paperback
Wow! I really enjoyed reading this book, and many times I could hardly put it down. The plot is unique, a creative way to consider first contact with a species not from Earth. The first part was delightful hard science, with realistic and visceral descriptions of current human spaceflight technology. Later parts delved into psychological and cultural attitudes and finally philosophical questions - masterfully woven into an intense story arc with exciting surprises. This story will live in my consciousness for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed every moment of reading it

It is so refreshing to read a positive story such as this. Positive, but bluntly truthful. I enjoyed every moment of reading it. In particular, I appreciate the perspective which is not USA-centric. Excellent characterisation and non-stop action kept me up very late. Good work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Page turning scifi!
By Amazon Customer
Format: Paperback
Great hard scifi from a developing leader of the genre, strong characters living in a thought-provoking world all too similar to our own. A real page turner in the footsteps of Asimov, Clarke and others, highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good read for science fiction fans
By Paul Heaton
Format: Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book.
Great holiday reading. The storyline was interesting, with a blend of current science, speculative developments and an interesting take on "first contact" with an alien intelligence. There was also a coherent narrative thread which kept on moving the main character Eveline forward.
I thought the reaction of the world to the announcement of the existence of the alien was unfortunately probably spot on!
I look forward to reading more from Mr. Harmsworth.

Fascinating book. It started a little heavy, but the detail and intriguing story kept me hooked right to the end. Highly recommended

I loved this book!
While cleaning up near-Earth junk left behind by everything we've put into orbit around our planet, something exciting is found! We are not alone! This thought provoking book spells out what could happen when we discover aliens are real!

I was riveted to this story as it unfolded, and consider it well written. The characters are believable, and I like how the international crew worked together to bring the story together. Good job, Tony!

I just finished reading the last chapters of this book and the story is fantastic! The new details added more depth to it, make it more human. I recommend this story to anyone who reads Sci-Fi as it explores several aspects of interest to me, time and eternal life. It was hard to put this story down. I hope to read any ollow up stories. Thank you Tony for sharing with us.

Wattpad Reviews:

One of the best Sci-Fi books I've  read. and unfortunately a very accurate
description of the majority of mankind.

Spectacular novel. Beautiful beautiful ending. I will surely give raves on other sites.

Just finished it. Well done Tony. I enjoyed it immensely. The doom and gloom stuff for humankind was a bit depressing, but the ending was very uplifting.

I read non-stop through to the end and I want you to know it was a most enjoyable read from scientific through emotional to spiritual (almost). Thank you, for creating the is journey. And all the luck with the publishers.

Hahaha Nice message, big shame for bieng a human.... All that was told here are really true..

Thank you for this beautiful story.

Beautifully done with a strong message

I've not read a story which has had moved me and had me in it's grip for ages.  Wonderful story and great great writing, I truly love it. Thank you for the many hours of joy reading and fun.

This was so engrossing that I barely put it down to sleep! I hope u get it published it's an amazing adventure & love story! Thank you for sharing with me.

Lovely story, very compelling and a great read. Thank u so much

Loved the story, hard to put down.

I thought this was a very well written sci-fi story. I loved the religious discussion as well...a topic often difficult to broach in any novel without backlash.  Great job! :-)

a great read truly enjoyable

Brilliant I had a job putting it down

Honesty, I really like this story. It is an intriguing concept wonderfully written and, once widely read will likely generate a bit of controversy. Is there an "after" life?  Or something we might call God?  Will evolution inevitably lead us away from war and greed and selfishness? You've done a great job! Thank you for writing and sharing.  I am on to reading some more of your work.

Damn it I am going to call you names.  I am used to making my readers cry.  Not me crying.  Evil bugger.

Wattpad Comments:

very well written and enjoying the 1st person narrative

Great cliff hanger. Nice work on your opening chapter. Kudos!

Great start! Gripping

I like how you described the first-hand first-time experience of the MC in being in space! I got an idea of what it really would feel like. The details were just the right amount, fascinating really.

Good opening. I liked the way you captured different nationalities without it being overly forceful. I also like the feeling of stepping into the shoes of this outsider and getting that sense of awe and wonderment of the space journey.

You've created a clear-sighted vision of existing in a zero-gravity environment, where exposure to cosmic rays is a daily hazard. Nice job keeping it real.

Wow, I can practically see these images play in and out of my mind. Awesome work!

super chapter.. you held me a the way... no speedbumps.. no logic questions.. it was a delight.

Oh, the suspense!

Terrific chapter. I'm no purist so the technical stuff I just accept and immerse in the emotions and the dialogue.

Great story and writing.

Does not feel like fiction, feels real.

I love being part of Eve's first impressions of her first experience of actually being spaceborn... It's a treat! Thanks for sharing!

The details of the ISS and zero g really add nicely to the realism of the story. Very well edited too!

I teared up, that was cute 😢

Really lovely passage. Brought a tear too my eye!

Oooh... this is interesting! I am enjoying the trip, Tony!

Great read I'm enjoying it very much.

Good chapter! The pace is good and the science seems like you've been there.

Cool story. I'm looking forward to finding out just what the heck our intrepid space buddies found.

Great beginning! This has all the right elements for a good movie...

Great description! And beautiful craftsmanship.

So so exciting.

Really enjoyed this chapter. The suspense is building nicely!

Excellent story and great writing.

Dum da da dum, mysterious music

Good book. Absolutely

Great chapter, can't stop reading now.

A good original story line so far

Btw, I like how you brought up area 51 and the other conspiracies. I felt connected to her when she was questioning if these things were real since this artifact has been found. I was rooting for her to get the answers.

Wonderful story and great writing. As if one was there to observe. 10 out of 10 points from me.

Everything about this novel is amazing.

Beautiful chapter. The dialogue and narrative are superb.

Really an outstanding old-school hard core SF story; one of the best on Wattpad.

Curious how not many people get to find little gems like this work.

Redtooth? The next step after Bluetooth? Hmmm... very clever

First story I've read that not only uses self driving cars but adds new features to them - kudos!

I'm itching to get this artefact on the workbench.

Love this story and great writing.

This is exciting! Everyone is looking forward to deciphering the visitor.

I just had a sad, lonely thought. What if the aliens that sent this are no longer around since it was 4 million years ago and their ancestors don't know they reached out to us or were watching us? Do they even know there's people populating the earth now? So many questions lol

This is a great story and that was a fascinating chapter. Well done Tony.

I normally don't like nor enjoy this kind of sci-fi novel but, I am enjoying this one very much. It is very intriguing.

I have so much speculation going through my mind right now!

Tremendous chapter.

Wow! Sorry, not a useful comment. Quite an imaginative description of a world. Excellent chapter and nice restraint of dialogue - keeping it professional.

Excellent chapter truly love it

How cool is this?

That response was totally unexpected. Brilliant.

I wish to thank you for including this. I am the parent of a mixed race child. The issues he deals with are there in print and maybe will influence a soul who needs to hear it.

So hard to see our own racial bias sometimes: I didn't realize until 2nd reading that this comment could be racially charged itself because it takes for granted assumption that white Europeans were in a position to 'first encounter' black races.

So inrtiguing, sure you aren't one of 'them'? And you are a master at hooks.

Fantastic story and great writing. Thanks for the joy of reading this.

Shoot! What next?

My first thought was uh oh.

I'm over here speed reading this thing cause it's so good! I can't put my phone down lol (wattpad app on phone)

Holy crap! [in reference to the studio shooting]

Oh fuck... [in reference to the studio shooting]

Omg, that's awful 😢

So sad!!! I just want to hug her and tell her it’s not her fault! She tried everything she could to prevent things like this from happening. Some people are just too unreasonable and nothing will ever get through to them.

Damn it I am going to call you names. I am used to making my readers cry. Not me crying. Evil bugger.

Yuppers, oh fuck.

A very powerful chapter

Damn it! Still crying.

Fadrastic and to me it's seems very much I think as it would be when other life forms will get in touch with us.

She's a tough broad ✊

Is that true? Do astronauts really have to exercise 3 hours up there in real life?

Wouldn't it be cool if ad2 could fix her injuries?!

Brilliant. These realistic side information make this book so ... Bounding. I can be the main character, maybe pull out some of her business tricks for personal use, I totally like the look at implicarions of autonomous driving like SMS-ing your ride, as well as the psychological thoughts on how to introduce Allen to the world. This book here would be the best of my 10 last readings. Didn't check yet but maybe there's more in your store? Brilliant, what can I say else...

Hope she doesn't have a relapse before the big meeting. I'm wondering how her return trip will affect her health. Last time seemed pretty stressful for a bit. Does the second AD have a name or are they all, Allen?

I'm really caught up on their confidence that alien message won't be hostile, but I can't help thinking that Eve and others are so thoughtful and prepared that they would have a contingency plan if things go wrong. I'll just have to keep reading to find out!! (can hardly stop reading right now!)

So cool

How exciting! It’s actually communicating back!

Very exciting. Fantastic book. It's a real page turner.

I'm loving this, literally on the edge of my seat! Great job Tony!

Wow. I got a shot of adrenaline for her at this! How thrilling to know that this alien knows her!

In all important encounters mankind makes, the final solution is always back of mind. Such pomposity. We haven't learned yet how many of these explorers are out there and yet we think we can save earth by blowing up one if we deem it necessary.

Wow it so nicely seem like a professional writer and it's the best sci-fi story I've read so far

Wonderful read! This is not my typical fare, but I found it profoundly intriguing and well written! I look forward to reading more :) Best of luck with all of your publishing endeavors!

Woah! This chapter was awesome! I love the whole plot with aliens and this chapter was really interesting! It's well-written and congrats on your book which I know would get published and read by A LOT of people. Great job 😄

It's so nice to explore the possibilities of alien worlds! You did a job well done! And congratulations for your soon-to-be-published book!

They bolted a NUKE to the ISS?

Great stuff. Expresses how we humans struggle with mistrust and how it chsnges into war like events. Story is so realistic and within a tangible time frame

I keep thinking he is going to go blewy at the end of the book.

I can't thank you enough for sharing your wonderful story

This made me chuckle.

Hope she isn't losing her professional perspective with this growing attachment. I'm pretty sure Cadma could thwart any form of aggression if he/she could detect the nuclear device and disarm it. Curious to see the attitudes and agendas of the super power reps.

I smell a threat in the offing. Hope she doesn't get too ill to play back up. Creepy creeping in.

Loving the story so far, I really like the way you are having Cad gain a humanistic personality

Not very trustworthy, are we?

lol, such a funny example of how religion permeates our language -- this phrase sounds so natural even in a paragraph about the absurdity of religion. 😀

No wonder alians don't contact us, as a species we fail.

I knew it! That much stomach pain is not normal. It’s so hard to take care of yourself when the survival of the world falls on your shoulders.

Beautifully written chapter. I've got tears 😭 flooding eyes. Very very emotional.

Definitely thinking evil thoughts at you.

What next?

Omg I LOVED it!!!!!! Please please write their adventures! I wanna see the cool stuff you come up with in the other worlds! Sidenote: I'm so embarrassed to say that I guarantee that's how our world would act and come across to them if an alien did come! Makes me sad and disappointed. Maybe that's why we HAVEN'T been visited publicly, if there is such a thing. They know we couldn't handle it and we would just take advantage of the technology and never grow emotionally and mentally. ☹
